Infrastructure
ERPNext — Managed ERP
Is ERPNext really free, or is it open-core like Odoo?
ERPNext is fully open source under the GPL — the entire product is free and complete, not a crippled community edition with the useful half paywalled. Odoo, by contrast, is open-core: its free Community edition is deliberately limited and the features most businesses need sit behind a paid Enterprise licence.
What does Noiz actually manage?
The full lifecycle: provisioning, hosting on a dedicated kernel-isolated environment, scheduled backups, configuration (chart of accounts, VAT, payroll, workflows), custom modules and apps built directly into ERPNext, security hardening and monitoring, and SLA-backed support with hands-on training for your team.
If we want to leave, can we take ERPNext and our data with us?
Yes. ERPNext is open source with no lock-in — the code and your data stay portable, exportable and yours. You can move off Noiz at any time.
Hosting
What is the difference between the sLVE and sLegacy hosting tiers?
sLegacy is pooled shared hosting on hardened, SSD-backed infrastructure, while sLVE isolates each account with guaranteed CPU and RAM via CloudLinux LVE plus full Imunify360 protection. sLVE gives the client predictable performance and contained neighbours without any sysadmin work; see pricing for the rates of each tier.
Does managed WordPress hosting include backups and a staging environment?
Yes. Octoid+ runs WordPress on Noiz infrastructure with server-level caching, AccelerateWP and Cloudflare at the edge, and includes automated daily backups, a staging environment and active Patchstack vulnerability protection. Every account also receives weekly off-site backups and automatically renewed Let’s Encrypt SSL.
Is security an extra cost, or is it included in the flat monthly fee?
Security is part of the platform, not an upgrade. Every plan ships with the Imunify360 web application firewall, malware scanning and proactive defence, Let’s Encrypt SSL and off-site backups, all managed by Noiz for a flat monthly fee with no lock-in; pricing per family is listed at pricing.
Cloud & VPS
What is the difference between the self-managed and managed VPS tiers?
On a self-managed VPS the client keeps full root and owns the operating system, runtime and configuration, while Noiz keeps the hypervisor and network healthy. On a managed VPS Noiz retains root and runs patching, hardening, backups and monitoring under an SLA, and the client manages sites, mail and databases through a control panel such as cPanel, Plesk or DirectAdmin.
Are the CPU, RAM and disk resources guaranteed or shared with other tenants?
Every VPS is provisioned with a stated vCPU, RAM and disk allocation, a dedicated IPv4 address and full root. Clients needing strictly single-tenant resources for databases or steady high-throughput workloads should choose the Dedicated tier, where all compute, memory and storage belong to one client.
How much does a cloud VPS cost and how is it billed?
Self-managed cloud servers with full root are billed flat monthly ex-VAT in EUR, with current rates listed on the pricing page. Managed VPS and Dedicated are quoted to scope, so the client should get in touch for a figure.
Domains
Does the client have to move the domain registration to Noiz to get managed DNS?
No. The client can keep an existing registrar and simply point the nameservers at Noiz, and Noiz will maintain the authoritative zones and records. Registration and transfer are also available if the client prefers a single accountable provider.
Who owns the domain if Noiz manages it?
The domain stays with the client at all times — it is theirs, fully portable, and never held hostage. Noiz manages registration, renewal and DNS on the client’s behalf with no lock-in.
How does Noiz prevent a domain from lapsing or expiring?
Renewals are tracked and renewed on time so a forgotten date never takes a site or mail offline, all under SLA-backed, flat monthly management. The flat per-domain rate is quoted on request — get in touch.
What is the difference between standard mailboxes and SecMail?
Standard mailboxes are bundled with hosting for reliable IMAP/SMTP on the client’s own domain. SecMail is a managed secure mail platform for organisations that need security enforced rather than optional, with two-factor authentication enforced on every account, managed encrypted backups included, full SPF/DKIM/DMARC/MTA-STS/TLS-RPT authentication, and managed spam, virus and phishing filtering on inbound mail — a setup that supports GDPR obligations.
Does the client own and control the data on a Private Email Server?
Yes. The Private Email Server is a fully managed, single-tenant mail server dedicated to one client only — complete isolation, no shared tenancy, and the client’s own sending IP and reputation. Mail is held on open standards with no lock-in, so the client owns and can move the data at any time. Noiz handles provisioning, hardening, patching, and monitoring on a flat monthly fee — see the published pricing.
What does the 4-tier secure email stack add on top of these mailboxes?
The Email security add-on layers additional filtering and threat controls on top of any tier, forming a defence-in-depth ladder from shared mail to a single-tenant private server. Full details of the tiers are on email security; tiers are quoted to scope (EUR, ex-VAT), while the single-tenant Private tier has published pricing — get in touch.
Networking
How does the client request DNS record changes?
The client sends the change to Noiz and it is applied to the authoritative zone for them, with low TTLs used where they help propagation; there is no registry console for the client to log into or break. The zone configuration is documented and owned by the client, so it can be taken elsewhere at any time.
What happens to traffic when a backend server fails?
Load balancing is health-checked, so a failed node is drained out automatically and traffic is spread across the remaining healthy backends, keeping a single failure invisible to users. Resolution, reachability, and backend health are monitored continuously by Noiz.
How is the managed firewall configured and kept up to date?
Noiz designs, deploys, and maintains default-deny rule sets applied consistently across hosts, reviewing and updating them as services change. The tooling is open-source and Linux-native, and the service is SLA-backed with flat monthly management, quoted to the estate.
Security
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Does Noiz test that backups actually restore, or just confirm they ran?
Noiz performs restore testing and maintains documented recovery procedures, so a backup is verified to recover rather than merely confirmed to have run. SLA-backed recovery means the restore is a commitment the client can rely on.
How is backup data protected from ransomware and unauthorised access?
Data is copied off-site, encrypted in transit and at rest by default, with optional PGP that the client controls for an additional layer. Because copies are off-site on a defined schedule, a ransomware event on the live estate becomes an inconvenience rather than an outage.
Are mailboxes covered by this backup service?
Mail is not covered here by default; mailbox backup is provided through the Email Security add-on, while this service protects servers, databases and application data. Tiers are flat monthly management ex-VAT, set by protected capacity, retention and frequency, and scoped to the estate — get in touch.
Edge Security & DDoS
Does the client need to move hosting to Noiz to use Edge Security?
No. Edge Security is a per-domain add-on that layers onto any hosting plan or infrastructure tier the client already runs, including sLegacy, sLVE, Octoid+, Cloud / VPS and Dedicated. The client keeps their registrar and Noiz takes over the nameservers and DNS to route traffic through the edge.
How is Edge Security priced if the client protects several domains?
It is billed at one flat monthly rate per protected domain, ex-VAT. Managed plans include it for the domains they cover, and any additional domains are charged at the same per-domain rate; see pricing for the current figure.
What protection does the per-domain add-on actually include?
Each protected domain gets a managed CDN, DDoS mitigation for volumetric and protocol floods, an application-layer WAF tuned to the stack, and SSL issued, terminated and renewed automatically at the edge so certificates never lapse. It pairs with Threat Mitigation and Networking for deeper coverage.
Firewall
Software firewall or hardware firewall?
Both. Noiz runs host- and network-level firewalling on the client’s Linux servers and VPS, and supplies dedicated OPNsense hardware appliances for the perimeter where a physical device is the right call. The two are often used together.
Can I buy the firewall on its own?
Yes — as a standalone managed firewall service for a site or estate, or folded into a Server / managed-support SLA where it is reviewed as services change.
What does "default-deny" mean?
The firewall blocks everything by default and only opens the specific ports and routes the client actually needs. It is the safest baseline and the one Noiz applies as standard.
VPN
Can the VPN be bought on its own?
Yes. It can be a standalone managed VPN for a team or site, run and maintained by Noiz — or folded into a managed SLA, or added to a Private email server. Whatever fits the estate.
Which VPN technology does Noiz use?
Open-source, audited VPN tooling — encrypted tunnels for sites and servers, and a managed VPN client on managed workstations. No proprietary client lock-in; the configuration is the client’s to keep.
How does the VPN relate to the Private email tier?
On the Private (Tier 4) email server, the VPN provides encrypted network isolation in front of the mailbox, so a stolen credential is useless off the client’s network. See Email Security.
Threat Mitigation
How does Noiz stop attacks before they reach the client's servers?
Each domain sits behind a managed CDN with a WAF tuned to the client’s stack and DDoS mitigation that absorbs volumetric and protocol floods, so the origin only ever sees clean traffic. SSL is terminated and renewed at the edge, so certificates never expire.
Does threat mitigation cover endpoints as well as the network edge?
How much does Edge Security cost, and can it be added to an existing setup?
Edge Security is a per-domain add-on that layers managed CDN, WAF, DDoS mitigation and SSL onto any hosting plan or infrastructure tier; see pricing for the current per-domain rate, quoted in EUR ex-VAT.
Email Security
Does the client have to switch email providers to use Email Security?
No. Email Security layers onto the client’s existing hosted mail, working with their current provider and domains by sitting in the delivery path and at rest, so there is no re-platforming. When the requirement outgrows an add-on, Noiz offers a clean upgrade path to SecMail.
What does the spam and malware filtering actually inspect?
Inbound mail is scored, quarantined and scanned before it reaches the mailbox, with attachments and links inspected. Quarantine review and policy tuning are handled by Noiz as part of the SLA-backed service rather than left to the client.
If a mailbox is deleted or corrupted, can the messages be recovered?
Yes. Mailboxes are covered by managed encrypted backups taken off-site on a schedule, so deletions, corruption and account loss are recoverable. The monthly add-on is quoted per mail estate — get in touch.
Support
Managed IT Support
What is included for each managed device under the flat monthly SLA?
Each workstation is enrolled for remote monitoring and management via TacticalRMM, endpoint protection with GravityZone, disk-encryption management and theft tracking, VPN access, noiz.cloud file storage and backup, plus remote support when hands-on attention is needed. Servers are covered for health, capacity and availability monitoring, hardened maintenance and patching, off-machine backup, and SLA-backed response. See the service page for the full breakdown.
How is managed IT support billed?
Billing is a flat monthly rate per device, with one predictable line per workstation and per server, so the cost is clear and there are no per-ticket surprises. Prices are quoted in EUR, ex-VAT; current rates are on the pricing page.
Can Noiz supply and set up the hardware as part of the SLA?
Yes. IT procurement is part of the managed SLA rather than a standalone service, so Noiz can source and provision workstations, servers, Linux machines, licences and peripherals, hardened and enrolled before delivery. What arrives is already configured to the client’s standard.
Can I contact support on WhatsApp?
Yes — message Noiz on WhatsApp at +353 83 014 7649. For anything sensitive, Signal is the channel Noiz recommends.
Remote Monitoring & Management
Which RMM platform does Noiz use, and is it open-source?
Noiz runs Remote Monitoring & Management on TacticalRMM, an open-source, Linux-native platform the client can understand and audit with no proprietary lock-in. A lightweight agent reports the state of each server, workstation, and service back to a central console operated by Noiz.
Do monitoring alerts go to the client or to Noiz?
Alerts from thresholds and check failures are raised to Noiz operators, not to the client’s inbox. Common faults are auto-remediated by scripted response, and the rest are triaged and resolved by an operator under SLA-backed response, so the client gets a quiet estate instead of a queue of incidents.
How are patches and reboots handled without disrupting work?
Operating system and software updates are scheduled, applied, and verified, with reboots handled inside agreed maintenance windows. RMM is billed as one flat monthly management fee in EUR ex-VAT; see pricing for detail.
Linux Administration
Does Noiz administer Linux servers across different distributions and on both physical and virtual machines?
Yes. Noiz handles provisioning with clean installs, base images and repeatable builds across distributions, on either physical or virtual hardware, and the client retains full ownership of the systems and their configuration.
Can Noiz take on a one-off Linux fix, or only ongoing management?
Both. Linux administration is billed at the standard hourly rate in four-hour blocks for one-off remediation and troubleshooting, while systems needing continuous attention fold into a managed, SLA-backed arrangement at a flat monthly rate — see pricing for current EUR rates ex-VAT.
How does Noiz keep a managed Linux server secure and patched?
Hardening is applied from the start — minimal attack surface, firewalling, SSH lockdown and least-privilege access — and kernel, package and dependency updates are tracked and scheduled to avoid surprises rather than left to chance.
Training
Which systems does Noiz train teams on?
Noiz delivers hands-on training in Linux systems administration plus the open-source platforms it runs in production: WordPress, ERPNext and Nextcloud, covering everyday operation, troubleshooting and administration so the client’s team can run their own infrastructure.
Is the training billed per-day or per-seat, and how much does it cost?
Group sessions are delivered per-day and individuals are billed per-seat, all priced in EUR ex-VAT. Rates are quoted per session — get in touch to scope one.
Can sessions be tailored to the client's own environment and delivered on-site?
Yes. Every session is scoped to the client’s environment and goals and is hands-on throughout on real systems, and it can be delivered on-site or remotely for primary and tertiary education or corporate teams. Training pairs naturally with Noiz managed IT support, so the same team that runs the infrastructure can teach the people who use it.
Services
Custom Development
Should the client choose a Hugo static site or WordPress for a new build?
Noiz recommends a Hugo static site when the content is mostly editorial and speed and security matter, since there is no database to patch and nothing to break under load; WordPress or WooCommerce suits clients who need ongoing self-service content editing or a storefront. The right fit is settled during scoping before any code is written.
Can a reseller commission a build under their own brand?
Yes. Noiz delivers white-label web development to the same build standards while the reseller fronts the client under their own name, so the end client never sees Noiz.
How is custom development billed, and does the finished build come under management?
Each engagement is project-quoted off standard development rates and billed in four-hour blocks against a defined scope; see pricing for the underlying rates ex-VAT. Built right, the deliverable drops straight into management, patched, backed up, and monitored like the rest of the estate.
Hardware
Linux Computers
Which Linux distribution comes installed?
A vetted, stable Linux desktop chosen for reliability and privacy, set up with sane defaults. Noiz can tailor the distribution and software to how the client actually works.
Can the machine be managed by Noiz?
Yes. Any Noiz computer can be brought under a Workstation SLA — RMM monitoring, endpoint protection, disk-encryption management, VPN and backup, for a flat monthly per-device fee.
Is there any telemetry or bloatware?
No. The machines ship without telemetry, trial-ware or vendor spyware — a clean, hardened Linux desktop the client owns outright.
Linux Laptops
How is a Noiz laptop different from a normal one?
It ships with a hardened Linux desktop, full-disk encryption and no telemetry or trial-ware — privacy and security set up correctly before it reaches the client, rather than bolted on afterwards.
Can lost or stolen laptops be protected?
Under a Workstation SLA, yes — disk-encryption management, theft tracking and remote handling are part of the managed package.
